Why #IndiaHijackedTwitter was trending on Twitter?

Twitter is accused of suppressing voices against Indian atrocities: File photoTwitter is said to have suspended hundreds of Pakistani Twitter accounts after they were found expressing solidarity with people of Occupied Kashmir over the atrocities being meted out to them by Indian forces. The platform was  used by thousands of Pakistani and Kashmiri users to heap praise on Prime Minister Imran Khan for raising the Kashmir issue and exposing the Indian government’s policy of ethnic cleansing during his impressive speech at the United Nations General Assembly session on Friday.Following the speech, the users had posted thousands of tweets to eulogize their leader by using hashtag "Voice of Kashmir”, which became a global trending topic. It was that trend which Pakistani users think Indian lobby within Twitter didn't like and started suspending accounts seen using the hashtag. To record their protest, thousands of Pakistani users on Saturday posted Tweets under the hashtag #IndiaHijackedTwitter.A large number of people also tagged Twitter CEO Jack Patrick Dorsey in their message, accusing the micro-blogging site of attempting to suppress their voice against Indian atrocities. They demanded Twitter immediately activate the suspended accounts.

Pakistan hits back at India?s response to PM Imran?s UNGA speech

NEW YORK: Pakistan hit back strongly in response to Indian reply to Prime Minister Imran Khan's historic speech at the global forum.Pakistan submitted a rejoinder to the United Nations General Assembly Saturday exposing the ugly face of Narendra Modi government.First Secretary of the Indian External Affairs Ministry Vidisha Maitra while excersing her right to reply had said, "Rarely has the General Assembly witnessed such misuse, rather abuse, of an opportunity to reflect. Words matter in diplomacy. Invocation of phrases such as 'pogrom', 'bloodbath', 'racial superiority', 'pick up the gun' and 'fight to the end' reflect a medieval mindset and not a 21st-century vision." In response, Zulqarnain Chheena, a diplomat of the Pakistani mission, while exercising his right to reply said PM Imran had exposed the real cruel face of Indian state terrorism before the world community.Chheena said India is committing state terrorism in occupied Jammu and Kashmir for the last thirty years. He added the Indian government was carrying forward the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) agenda. “The killers of Mahatma Gandhi are now ruining the secular face of India in occupied Kashmir,” he asserted.Chheena further said Pakistan arrested Indian spy Kulbushan Yadev who admitted involvement in various incidents of terrorism inside Pakistan. He added, PM Imran in his speech to the UNGA, highlighted Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir and on minorities inside India.PM Imran in his address to UNGA on Friday, heavily criticised Indian PM Narendra Modi and his party’s ultra-nationalist hardline style of governance. The prime minister said that India ended the special status of occupied Kashmir, flouting 11 resolutions of the UN Security Council.“It is the responsibility of the UN to ensure that Kashmiris get their right to self-determination,” PM Imran said.“India must lift this inhuman curfew,” PM Imran said, adding, that 'picked-up persons' from the valley should be released by India.Due to these issues, eight million people under lockdown in the valley are likely to get radicalised, he said.

Murad Ali Shah says party, assembly empower CM to continue whether in jail or not

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said on Saturday that the party nominates a candidate for chief minister and the provincial assembly elects him, adding that later it becomes the prerogative of the party and assembly to continue with the CM even if he is in a jail or anywhere else.CM Sindh said this while addressing a press conference at CM House in which Dr Bande Ali Leghari, a leading personality from Dadu announced to quit the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and joined Pakistan Peoples Party. To a question, the chief minister said that the party and the provincial assembly were empowered to continue their chief minister or get his resignation, in case he is arrested.“I am surprised to see that some of media friends always talk about my [CM] arrest,” he said and asked why he would be arrested when he was cooperating with the National Accountability Bureau in its inquiry. The chief minister said that the PPP had a strength of 98 MPAs in the provincial assembly and after bye-election on two seats, Larkana and Johi, the party’s strength would reach 100.Murad Ali Shah said that the NAB’s question was about the authority of giving tariff. “It is my subject and I can write a thesis on it,” he said and added that he had talked about the tariff in last four Council of Common Interest meetings. To a question about Prime Minister Imran Khan’s speech in the United Nations General Assembly, Shah said that the speeches of Zulfiqar A Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto in General Assembly were a part of history and speak louder about their great statesmanship.
