Britain says will play due role in reducing Pakistan, India tensions

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in a telephonic conversation with British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Jeremy Hunt briefed him on the evolving situation of peace and security in the region on Tuesday. Qureshi informed his British counterpart in  context of Pulwama incident that despite aggressive rhetoric emanating from India, Pakistan has offered cooperation in investigating the  incident.Pakistan even  asked India to share actionable evidence in this regard. Qureshi underscored that Pakistan desires a peaceful neighbourhood and would not allow its territory to be used against anyone.The foreign minister added that Pakistan remains committed to working for peace and stability in the region, and urged the UK to use its influence to defuse tensions in the region.Secretary of State Hunt in response assured that the UK was carefully monitoring the situation .Hunt said that the  UK will play its due role in reducing tensions between the two neighbours, and that he also encouraged the resolution of issues to be in a peaceful manner.The two Foreign Ministers agreed to remain in contact and continue to consult each other on issues of mutual interest.
